April Adventures...
Know have not been blogging for such a long time, and even if I had time to do so, I was just lazing around. So many things to do like clean up my chinchilla cage and clear up a bit of my room… anyway, whats new. : D

It’s been quite an adventure the past few days… starting from Friday… well, actually thrusday. Anyway, on thrusday around lunch time, meow and I heard some faint “meows” from this drain near our office… we had to pass it during lunch time. But we didn’t spot any kittens so we just continued on to lunch. Come Friday afternoon, we walked past that spot again, and this time we went to check out the drain. The drain was basically covered with dead dried leaves but we could still hear the meowing. It was not the usual cat meows, but kittens. Sometime around last year, we found an abandoned kitten very near this drain. Meow took it home and looked after it like it was her very own baby… but sadly, it passed away on the 3rd night that she brought it back.
Anyway, so we looked down to this dead leaves infested drain, and I saw this thing squirming on top of some leaves, and my first thought was a huge hairy caterpilla!! Really… then only then I realized that it was 2 poor kittens… abandoned… [or at least what we thought so when we first saw it]. Meow, traumatized and reminded of the sad event last year, just stared at the 2 kittens blankly and did not know what to do… So I went, “Come on!! Let’s get some boxes and bring them up to the office!! Then we have to feed them after our lunch! We can’t let them die here!”
Faint thunder sounds in the background.
So meow and I rushed back to our office building and went to the refuse chamber behind to look for some boxes. No such luck cause it had been cleared. So we ran upstairs and took one of the boxes that we got from some ebay transaction. Ran downstairs and we stood above the drain for a while before contemplating how to get down… It was quite a climb down and since meow was wearing some stylo heels, and I was wearing slippers… I decided to be HERO and climb down. Was secretly super afraid that I was going to sprain or twist my ankle AGAIN somehow on the climb down but luckily I didn’t. If not, damn malu lor. I was so afraid that the Mother cat would appear out of no where suddenly and scratch my face for going near her babies, but obviously that didn’t happen as well. So I transferred the 2 kitties into the box and made my way up from the drain. By now, the clouds were turning a scary shade of grey so we ran back up to office AGAIN, and rushed off to get our lunch at Great World City.
The moment we got into a cab, it started to pour really heavily... Meow and i heaved a sigh of relief... we could not imagine the poor kittens out in that thunderstorm...
Now, the funny thing was that the pet shop at Great World, USED to be outside the cinemas. When we took the escalator up, the plot of space where the pet shop used to be at, was now totally empty and cleared out! What was left was just a great vast of concrete flooring there. Meow, clearly traumatized by the sight stoned again cause she thought that there will be no milk for the kittens… But……… the pet shop had actually moved to the opposite shop space instead…. Cheeeey.. scared us half to death ok. Bought a milk bottle and the kitten’s milk and quickly went back to office after our lunch…
The kittens were still screaming at the top of their lungs when we got back to the office, but luckily we put them at the back of the office so it was not too noisy. The stupid milk bottle that we bought could not be used as we could not get anything out from that bottle after poking this gigantic hole. So we used some straws and fed the kittens with that instead… no choice mah… The screamer [which we have named Tiger, cause from some angles, it looked like a baby tiger] was the weaker one but could not shut up no matter what we did. The other one on the other hand… [named Fatty, or Fei Zai] was obviously…. Fatter. But did not scream as much as it’s sibling. While meow prepared the milk, I inspected them…. And found a few dead GIGANTIC red ants on both kittens… and it was really really hard to pluck each red ant off their skin. Like the ant refused to let go of their skin.. just like a crab.
Their umbilical cord was still attached which meant that they were between 1-3 days old… according to some research on the net… and their eyes still closed. They managed to shut up for a while after taking some milk and wrapping them up like popiahs in towels to keep them warm. Brought them to the vet at sunset way after work and met some rather friendly pet owners and their cute pets. This sweet girl at the clinic had 2 black dogs… one poodle and one snauzher. Both dogs looked really well groomed, especially the snauzher, who looked like he was weaing furry high socks… and usually I hate poodles… but this one just looked really cute. The 2 dogs were super kay po and the moment I sat down near them, the snauzher propped his front legs happily onto my lap while the other kay po poodle tried to do the same. The owner pulled them back with the leash and suddenly the 2 kittens started screaming. The black poodle who was standing in front of me, stopped in it’s tracks and had this classic shocked and confused look on it’s face. It’s as if it has never heard anything like that before and it was confused about what it was. So to keep the screamers quiet, I opened the lid of the “Double A” A4-size paper box and took Tiger out to wrap it up with a towel. The moment I opened the lid, the kay po poodle trotted over to the box and was just about to stick its head into the box, the owner pulled it back expertly, like she had done this a million times before. The poodle was soooo adorable. The snauzher’s attention was diverted to this couple who was waiting to pay their bills and went over to sniff them. The poodle followed suit.
Anyway, the 2 kittens weighed at a mere 100gm each and the vet didn’t seem to really check on the kittens. All she did was feed them milk [the same brand of kittens milk that we bought] and told the helper to fill a latex glove up with warm water and used that as a warmer for the 2 kittens. She said that they have a 50-50 chance of survival though. Think she didn’t want to get our hopes up too high… Got my mum’s and my dinner and met up with the longan gang at Liat Tower’s BK after that. By then, the 2 kitties were sleeping peacefully when I left home.
The longan gang wanted to go somewhere happening to chill out, and after some time, we decided on Butter Fingers at MS, the same place where Ah Zai, CMI and I chilled out and laughed our heads off through morning. So we drove over and I had a hard time finding a parking lot… had to go into UE Square to look for one in the end. Parking charges was 3 BUCKS!! Wah paing… for such a short time only somemore. Ordered an iced latte which was not bad, and we all shared a waffle with ice cream…. Which happened to be really REALLY nice!! Waaaahhh… spent some time reading old magazines there and had a “bitch” with 2 girls over the toilet. Think everyone knows already anyway… So stupid lor…
Saw 3 really cute cats outside BF, and there was this exceptionally cute kitten sitting in a flower pot outside! The Starfish and his wife were trying to take a photo of it, but for some reason, the starfish deleted the photo after that! And Ah Zai was upset and stormed off… [but I think he wasn’t really angry la. Act only. :P] then the starfish’s wife scolded him and made him take another photo of the flower pot cat! So drama…. Turned out that none of us Pai Kiah’s wanted to go home [think it was already about 1++am??] and Gaz’s suggestion to go karaoke was turned down… especially by me. In the end, we ended up at Mustafa Centre and everyone did their small fair share of shopping. Had an interesting encounter with a nice “lady” at the Sally Hansen section and ran back to the rest of the gang, without anyone realizing what happened. I Bought a Neutrogena shower gel for $9.90 and a nail polish remover by the brand Manicure, which was recommended by the starfish’s wife. By 2+am, everyone felt exhausted and ended the night by sending Ah Zai to the Somerset bus stop and then back home……
To be continued…… its so late I need my beauty sleep!! ZZZzzzzz……..
