What a crappy interview.

i am going to blog from Mo Mo's office at Chip Bee Gardens while Susie and Don are screaming at the top of their heads about some design for their presentation tomorrow, and Miffy is running around the office like a mad chicken trying to sew some quilt like thing. Quite a scene here... haha...

Anyway, since no one is using the computer, i shall blog about my day so far!! Woke up by a call in the morning at about 11.30am (i slept at 4am after staying out the whole night with Ah Zai at Novotel Hotel lobby.) the boss for this particular company i went for an interview for called me to ask me to rush down for a 2nd interview.

"Hellooooo, is this Denise? Could you come down today for a second interview to discuss the pay and show me your portfolio? Can come down asap??"

In a sleepy voice "Eeerrrrr..... ok, can. What time is good for you?"

"Asap lar... Don't need to put on make up lar!! Just come down as soon as you can ok??"

Thinking how ah beng this potential boss sounds, i groggily open my eyes and stare at my clock in front of me. 11.30am. Hhhmmm... "1pm?"

So the interview is arranged at 1pm and i groggily manage to make it down. When i got there, the guy who first interviewed me was wearing this super loud Hawaillian shirt and i really had to control my laughter because he looked so holiday-ish and it was really loud ok. Anyway, the interview went fine until he looked through my drawings and looked at my perspectives and said in a ya-ya-papaya tone, "Actually, i am not impressed with your perspectives. Can you do better than that??"

I was shocked that he said that because usually the prospective employer would not say something like that to me even if my drawings are that bad... so i was thinking in that split second if i should bitch him back. Decided not to. "Those are just my sketches, and what do you mean if i can do better than that??"

"Oh, like more detailed lar. These are, you know, not that great."

Wah lau eh. how to answer this kind of one-kind question. i was seriously so pissed off that i couldnt even remember what i answered. Anyway, guess what. He is not even ID trained and he has the audacity to say that about my work. I was not interested in the job the moment he said that about my work so i just gave more standard answers. And i felt that since, he said that my perspectives werent that great, then he also wouldnt want to give me the job. But guess what, he offered me the job. And while i wrote that my expected salary was to be higher of my current salary, he said that he will have to start off with my current pay first and see if i can pass the probation period. which he mentioned in a very vague way. So i got pissed and asked, "When you say probation period, usually how long is it? 1 month? 3 months?"

"Oh, max is 3 months. But usually it is earlier than that, like 1 or 2 months one lar."

I didnt feel that he was professional enough with the way he spoke, so i was extremely turned off. And he asked when was the earliest that i could start work. After i mentioned 3 Jan 06, he started to "entice" me to the job by saying that the career prospects in his company are so great (and few seconds ago, he just said that my drawings are not that great?! Huh??!) and how they have so many so many projects coming up. And he demanded that i gave him an answer immediately on whether i wanted the job!!! So i casually said that i will get back to him and he quickly gave me his name card. So i asked when was the latest i have to get back to him about my decision.

"Half an hour."

Hahahaha. you are so funny. So i replied, "I will get back to you end of next week."

With that, i was so relieved that the interview was over. I totally hated his attitude and unprofessionalism. He was just trying to demoralise me and say that i am so lousy so that he can try to lower my pay and intimidate me. He was pointing his stupid ugly finger at me for the whole interview and that was just plain rude. And i am not going to take up this job. And so sorry, you have the most loser name as well. (which i shall not mention here)

However, i received another call from a supplier (who i know from my previous company) who said that one of his clients (a design company in Shenton Way) are looking for designers! Have fixed another appointment with them on Monday as well..... Hope it isnt going to be another ah beng boss. Yucks.

And............... my ex boss has bitched me and irritated me again!! Shall not blog out the sms conversation but let's just say she is so darn sarcastic and acts like i owe her big time for some thing. Anyway, its ok. I believe strongly in retribution. I hope you get your just desserts.
