malaysia, truly asia

Kl work trip was tiring but fun in a way. learnt loads from going down to the site and it was interesting to see what you have drawn on computer being built in real life. going down to KL kinda got me thinking more about what i would like to do out of life.. especially career wise. i think it would be interesting if i could just run to kl and work there for a short while, just to get a totally different experience. sitting in front of the computer generating drawings all day long, is just getting weary to me. guess thats why im bored with my current job, because of the lack of excitement?

needless to say, kuala lumpur is the land of traffic jams. and you have to be a gangster driver to survive squeezing through lines of cars and crossing the road as a pedestrain, is another story altogether. while trying to cross the road to get to pertaling street (malaysia's famous night market place), meow, uncle, ah tai (uncle ariff's good friend and also the one who kindly lets ariff stay there when we overtook his hotel booking) and i were stranded in the middle of the road for a good 10 mins, because we were too scared to cross. by then, many locals had crossed back and forth already. no wonder it was so easy to tell that we were not locals. huh.

we were basically stuck in the car for the whole time, cause travelling in kl was no fun. i didnt know whether it was worse to be a backseat driver and get leg and body cramps from sitting in one speific position for a long time, or to be the driver and be irritated by the horrible traffic jams. and the road layouts werent the best either. wish i had taken a photo of the halfway abandoned flyover.

sole trouble
the first day there didnt exactly go very smoothly. the moment i reached malaysia, i was horrifed to see that my red 'stacatto' brand shoe's soles had cracked. uncle and meow assured me that they would bring me to buy a new pair that night. however, the road to the site had just been freshly....er... laid? and the road was so soft. that was the first time that i had ever stepped on soft roads. needless to say, the fresh hot tar burned the already half dead soles and by the time i got to the semi-d showhouse, the sole had melted a little and the crack had enlarged. goodness gracious me.

anyway, i managed to buy a new pair of shoes that night after we finished with our work. bought a pair of red (yes red shoes again) fake nike shoes for only RM85. cheap like bird shit can.

sleazy hotel
cititel hotel was where meow and i resided in for the next 4 days. it was a very nicely designed hotel. had rather nice wall finishes and it looked fresh. but nooooo... dun be fooled by appearances. apparently, if there is this "health spa" sign anywhere, it means that it is purely for ahem. men.

thursday night i decided to check my email in the business centre at around 11.40pm. by the time i was done, it was about 12.15am. and i had to go to the lobby's reception to get them to sign me out. i was horrified when i looked around to see swarms of men. yes. only men in the hotel lobby. and they were not businessmen.... they seemed to be only carrying a bag that looked like it was going to be 2 nights stay max and they looked really sleazy. yeesh. when i walked to the lift lobby, i was once again surrounded by these men. i decided to let the first group of them go inside the first lift that arrived. i was relieved to see a couple (the only decent looking people around then) and thought i could share the same lift as them. to my horror, when i dashed into the next lift, the wife said to her hubby, "we are going downstairs right?" and before i knew it, 5 of these sleazeballs walked into my lift. good lord. i was scared to death. i only managed to catch my breath when i stepped into my room safe and sound. yeesh.

ate loads of food though we had the most irregular meal times. and of course, i had to cause a small accident. the unfortunate victim was not me but uncle ariff. as he got out of the black lexus in the front seat, i opened the car door behind and unknowingly smashed the car door into his back. he let out a loud groan and started to "scold" me.

"sotong! now i know you dont like me very much, thats why you use the car door to break my back right!"

my countless apologies could not help anything as he continued using that incident to "frame" me. i think he will never forget it and will continue to tell the whole world on how i dont like him and i used the car door to kill him. hai.

now, i have to figure out how to renew my posb debit card. otherwise i have no proper card to use for the next month...ahhhh.....
