burnt lanterns and tasty mooncakes

today was one of the most fun and memoriable gatherings i ever had with a small bunch of iad classmates... it was just a small group of :
1. jacq
2. jacq's bf - ah tong
3. ros
4. ros's ex bf - dan
5. lawerence
6. zaihan aka ah zai
7. gorgeous me

outing was supposed to start at 6pm, where jacq was supposed to pick me and ah zai up, from parkway... but ah zai rang me at around lunch time to ask if i wanted to meet. i decided to, because i had no lunch yet, and i was still full from my otak bread breakfast and i had to buy a lantern for tonight. I already had my eye on the cute dinosaur lantern at takashimaya's basement, but decided to meet ah zai at bugis first to try our luck there.

walked over to bugis village near the famous temple, and first saw a stall selling the cheapo plastic-ky lanterns that were battery operated and had horrible ah lian music companied with them. they cost $7 each. ah zai liked the ultraman one on an aeroplane with bubbles blown out from the front. i really didnt like or want to buy any of these, so i dragged him over to walk down the rest of the street... saw my dinosaur lantern that i wanted!! woohoo!! finally, ah zai and i bought the dragon (whose head could sway from side to side) and the dino.

managed to worm over to mr beans cafe for a drink and had the biggest salad there... for $8.80. wwooo.. and......... again, managed to worm our way to the correct bus stop to take a ride down to parkway. got asked for directions by tourists twice in a span of 5 mins on the way. i think i have a "ask-me-for-directions-face".

ah zai insisted that we listen to the all saints album that i asked him to burn, on the bus (he drags his mac laptop every where he goes, i think its his security blanket). but i kept trying to tell him that i was too sleepy cause i only had 6 hours of sleep. and he didnt even sleep. anyhow, the point was both of us fell asleep while listening to the songs. so i didnt hear a thing actually and amazingly, we didnt miss our stop.

after getting a macs dinner, ah tong picked us up to bring us to ecp beach. it was so nice and windy that we couldnt light our lanterns at all. we took about half an hour just to do that, and had to revive the candles that died when we were done with the first batch. finally when we managed to light all our pretty lanterns, jacq decided it was photo shoot time. so when we were sitting on the table, and as ah tong was about to press the shutter button, i noticed that ah zai's dragon lantern had caught fire!! and it was burning out jacq's pvc sheets!! it was a hilarious sight as ah zai, jacq and i dashed off from the photo shoot to save the lantern and the sheets. we had no water so jacq had to use ah zai's precious chinese tea to douse out the fire. hence, the poor dear had nothing to drink for the whole night.

that was just one of the many tragic stories for tonight.. right now, i just want to watch my AMAZING RACE FINALE epsiode, so that i wont feel so left out!! haahahaha.... im dying of curiosity as well... woo....
