Friday 15th July 2005

had a very exhausting Body Pump class with Miffy and decided to try out the other outlet at UOB Plaza/Building and we were super late! The classroom was actually outdoors and we totally couldn't find it. When we finally found it, the class was packed already (only about 10+ people??) because it was a very small space and around the perimeter of the outdoor space, were all the bicycles for the cycling class! I kinda liked the idea of having the class with the birds and butterflies outside and I'm always for fresh air anyway. Luckily it wasn't very warm because it had just rained! Woohoo.....

There was a rather sweet lady who helped us to get out stuff for the class and both Miffy and i were busy running from front to back of the class to get our bar and weights and blahblahblah. The instructor was some bald guy called RAM and he talked like Ali G!!! He spoke with an extremely strong Bollywood like accent and it was mildly irritating and he sounded like he was on some recorder!! After the class, Miffy and I felt so cramped so we nua-ed by the pool.... Mr Ram walked past and i realised that he did not speak with that horrible accent during class! So funny...

Went scouting for food at Boat Quay after that and decided on some Thai food that looked promising. It was right next to an indoor tanning studio though and i found it highly amusing. Too bad there werent any customers inside and only the bosses came out of the place. Thought i could see how effective the fake tan might look on someone. Too bad.

Ordered a bowl of green curry chicken - which was alright, but it was too watery and a Miffy had some Phat Thai or something like that. Her noodle dish was nice and we shared a bowl of nice spicy Tom Yam soup! we started our bitching session after dinner while i told her about how some clowns still cant pronounce my name properly even after i tell them the correct way and the best part? This supplier with the name "Dennis" called me Dennis. Faint lor. She could not stop bitching about one of her collegue's girlfriend... who looked... erm, out of this world. Let's just say that she was blown away by her.... ugliness?? Miffy said she could not concentrate on her work and she found it hard to draw a simple section in Autocad. Wow. talk about being blown away by someone's "beauty". kekekkekeke.......

She wanted to meet her friends at Clarke Quay but we could not make it there cause both of us were really really tired. Walked from boat quay and crossed over to Empress Place where we saw 3 really cute cats! The last cat we saw outside Asian Civilisation Museum was the absolute cutest. It would roll on it's back when you meow at it! How often do you get a cat to roll on it's back when you meow at it???? Tried to convince Miffy to take it home to care for it and put it up for adoption. A really cool cat if you ask me.

Didn't really feel like going for gym in the morning but decided to drag myself out of bed and meet Bunny for combat. (I kept telling myself that the membership is not cheap so better make full use of it.) Think i was still exhausted from the night before class, so i was only giving 70% of my energy. It was extremely obvious during the class and the instructor even "scolded" me for not giving my all. Opps. scary.........

On the way for lunch at Swensons with darling Bunny, she was telling me about the research that she did for Sister's island. Here is the short paragraph of the Myth of The Sister's island :

"A long time ago lived a pair of beautiful sisters, Minah & Lina, who shared a bond so strong that nothing can separate them. But one day, the notorious chief of the Orang Laut met and fell in love with Lina. Despite the sisters' pleas, the chief took her away and forced her into the sampan. Just then, the sky turned dark and a storm broke out. As Minah made a final attempt to save her sister from leaving the jetty, a large wave came and engulfed her. On seeing this, Lina freed herself from her captors and jumped into the sea to join Minah. The storm subsided but nowhere can the sisters be found. Instead, two islands emerged from where they had drowned. Called Subar Laut (3.9 ha) & Subar Darat (1.7ha), the two small islands are now known as Sisters' Islands . It was said that every year on that very day when the sisters turned into islands, there will always be storm and rain."

Ahhhh... interesting. for some reason i only remember the myth of how Singapore's Redhill got its name. And i joked with Bunny there i will drown her on some island and that island will be called "Bunny Island" and it will be populated with hopping bunnies. Then the catchphrase to attract tourists would be "Have you adopted a bunny today??"

I was still feeling tired after lunch and i went home and nua-ed on my sofa for a few hours. Caught a dvd called "When the cat's away" (A french film) and slept for a short while. Was supposed to meet "Miss What" - Jacq for dinner because she wanted to borrow my colour pencils/markers. Miss What was also feeling really lazy and was still in bed at 5pm! Decided to meet after dinner at Esplanade to catch Baybeats (some free performances, as she is always the first one to catch any freebies. :D) at 8.30pm. Ah Zai was supposed to meet his friend (the one who pulled his shirt outside Gold Dust) but his friend was still at Pasir Panjang area till really late. He was also feeling lazy that day and so the 3 of us lazy worms decided to meet at Ang Mo Kio first. I felt like driving that day so i took the car and offered to pick Miss What up, but she said she also wanted to drive so we left my car at Ang Mo Kio Central's parking lot and she drove to Esplanade.

Drove through the Lavender Road and into the Marina Square area by Republic Ave by Ah Tong's instructions (which helped!) and parked at Sheares bridge carpark (which i never knew existed). We watched only one performance by a local band called "Surreal" where the crowd was fantastic! I didn't know that local bands could get such a crowd! Never underestimate them. After the half and hour performance, we headed back to the car where i tried to tell them about the myth of Sister's island. But Ah Zai decided to bitch me by saying "Who doesnt know about Sisters Island??!" So i refused to tell him the myth after that. Hmph.

Drove to Lau Pa Sat and had some satay and poor Miss What tried to order some Iced Tehcinno but the drink stall uncle told her that Tehcinno dont have the iced version one. If she wanted iced one, then she has to get Iced Teh Tarik. Harrrrrrr???? I didnt know that too! So that day i learnt about the Sisters island and Tehcinno got no iced version.

We must have sat there for a really really long time yakking because we left only at 2am! We started talking about the pros and cons of our design industry and how to handle client's and stupid contractors. I told them that i wanted to set up a contracting firm where we will produce wonderfully detailed works and build the place with our own bare hands! Then Ah Zai said that there was a similar project done overseas where the interior designers actually built up what they really designed! Then Miss What kept telling us to work for the next 5 years to accumulate as much work experience and set up our own design firm after that! And later eventually turn it into an Architect firm (this is where Ah Tong comes in useful)! So i suggested that all 3 of us start saving $50 every month until 5 years later to get our company start up fee! Haha... not much i know but it's a start what!

After that exciting talk we decided to head home. My car was the only car left in the row of parking lots and i thought i got a parking fine! Actually i saw wrongly. It was the reflection of my wipers. Decided to send Ah Zai home since we were in the north area and followed the MRT track line to his place! I needed to go to the toilet badly so i said that i will stop at a petrol station on the way there.

3rd lesson of the day learnt : There are no petrol stations on the MRT line road from Ang Mo Kio to Woodlands.

Ok lar, actually got, but must turn into side roads which i didn't want to because i was afraid of getting lost. So ended up using his toilet in his house. Being a real hopeless in the West and North area, Ah Zai had to draw a line with arrows on my hopeless street directory to help me get to the expressway. Which eventually what happened was i turned left at the first turn when it should have been a right. See lar, draw line on my map still cannot make it. Luckily i realised my mistake after turning and had to make a U-turn. The expressway directions were a little confusing and i thought i was travelling on the road to the Woodlands check point! But luckily again, i was not and managed to reach home. Was happily driving at 120km/h (not very fast lar actually) because the roads were super empty!! WWWWOooooooooooohoo!
